Let’s Spread the Joy of Haiku!

My new mission is to get more haiku books in libraries. The first library on the list is the Woodbury Community Library in Woodbury, VT. Follow this link to see how you can help.

2 out of the 10 books for the library have been purchased and are on their way.

Thank you for your support!

You can also support our work by donating at “Buy Me a Coffee” or shopping at our bookstore.

The Haiku Club Level

Your donation of $10.00 will support the purchase of notebooks and pens for writing and researching haiku. If you are a poet, you probably know that for every haiku that is “finished”, there are over 20 others that just didn’t make it. We go through a lot of notebooks over here! Donations can be made through the BuyMeACoffee platform.

      1. Hi Sue, Thank you very much! We do work hard. Well, I think S might need to step up her game. She really just sleeps a lot. Thanks again, and I hope all is well.

  1. Thank you for liking my lyrics at Fevers of the Mind. I am a little tired at the moment but I will return and explore your website more thoroughly. John Dickinson

    1. Hi John, Thanks for the comment and visiting. I appreciate hearing from, and learning about, the range of poets you have on your page. Thanks again for stopping by!

  2. Mark, I would like to change up my Tanka Tuesday Challenge and use the seasons and kigo words for our weekly inspiration. How would you feel if I used the 24 Japanese Seasons? I would have the poets choose to write haiku, senryū, haiga, tanka, gogyohka, haibun, tanka prose, renga, solo renga, chōka, Crapsey cinquain, American cinquain and its variations, Etheree and its variations, the nonet and its variations, shadorma, and imayo using the kigo words for inspiration. I would also give you credit for the idea and send poets your way for your weekly challenge. Thanks so much for the idea. ~Colleen~

    1. Hi Colleen, That sounds good. Anything to encourage people to go outside and get connected to the natural world around them. There is also an interesting project on the micro-seasons in the UK that helps a people identifying there local seasons. (https://www.theevaluator.co.uk/72-seasons/) I have been interested in doing something with this but haven’t been able to figure it out.

This might have just been a typo in your original message, but there are 72 seasons in the Japanese micro-season calendar. The 24 solar Terms is an ancient Chinese calendar.
And that is a lot of forms of poetry for Tanka Tuesday! Maybe we can get creative and collaborate on a way to publish our favorite submission for a year.

    1. Hi Jules! Thanks for checking in. All is well! I had a really busy couple of weeks that kept me away from the computer. I’m getting reoriented now and should be back to writing soon. Thanks so much for checking in. It is much appreciated.
