July 28 to Aug 01 is the micro-season of “Damp Earth Humid Heat”. This is the second micro-season of the season of Major Heat. In today’s post, we will celebrate this season by learning about humidity and reading haiku by Basho, Issa, Kerouac, and Shiki.

We have entered the micro-season of “The Plums Turn Yellow”. To celebrate this season we will learn about the Japanese Flowering Plum (Prunus mume) and then read haiku by Basho, Issa, Jane Reichhold, and Jack Kerouac.

We have entered the micro-season of “The Common Self-Heal Dries”. As a way to celebrate this season, we are going to learn how to identify the common self-heal, discuss its potential medicinal properties, and then read some haiku from Issa, Basho, and others.
